SIMI VALLEY : Woman Arrested in Blaze at Her Home
A Simi Valley woman was in custody Thursday on suspicion of setting fire to her house, police said.
Karen Christiansen was arrested on suspicion of arson in the fire that caused $30,000 damage to the house at 1056 Tuttle Ave. and about $10,000 damage to the contents, said Bill Hager, a fire investigator for the Ventura County Fire Department.
Police declined to state the motive in the fire.
Firefighters responded to the blaze with six engines and two trucks at 9:14 p.m. Wednesday. It was under control by 9:55 p.m., Hager said.
Firefighter Wayne Ferber received first-degree burns to his face.
