A former Sherman Oaks and Granada Hills travel promoter was ordered Wednesday to pay $20,998 in restitution to eight victims he swindled by charging them for airline tickets they never received.
Hisham Abul Kheir, 32, of Granada Hills was also placed on three years probation by Municipal Court Commissioner Barry D. Kohn.
Kheir was sentenced after pleading no contest to four misdemeanor counts of grand theft and one violation of a business and professions code section that regulates travel promoters.
The city attorney’s office said Kheir swindled his victims in 1987 and 1988 while operating International Travel Consortium Inc. in Sherman Oaks and Tickets International in Granada Hills.
