NATION IN BRIEF : KANSAS : Boy Killed, 13 Hurt in Rash of Tornadoes

Several tornadoes struck Hesston, in south-central Kansas, killing a 6-year-old boy, injuring 13 other people and wrecking homes, authorities said. Hesston “took a direct hit and there is major damage,†a Highway Patrol dispatcher in Wichita said. He said the town of about 3,000 people was left without electricity, with at least 40% of its buildings severely damaged and perhaps 100 homes destroyed.
