Drunk Driver in Kentucky Bus Crash to Appeal Case

CARROLLTON, Ky. — Lawyers for a man sentenced to 16 years in prison in the nation’s worst drunken-driving accident have said they will appeal his conviction.
Larry Mahoney, 36, was convicted last December on 81 charges in the May, 1988, crash near Carrollton that killed 24 teen-agers and three adults traveling in a school bus. Mahoney’s lawyers filed a notice of appeal Friday.
