Jet Lands on One Set of Wheels

WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — An Air Force cargo jet with 26 people aboard lost partial use of its landing gear Friday during takeoff from Panama and landed at Robins Air Force Base, military officials said.
The C-141 jet came in on its left landing gear, which was functional, and sparks and smoke were visible as the right side of the plane came down on the runway.
Emergency crews sprayed foam on the plane as a precaution, and no injuries were reported.
The plane was “bringing military people out of Panama, back to their bases,” when it lost its right main landing gear on takeoff at Howard Air Force Base, said Cliff Tyler, a Robins spokesman.
Tyler said it was not clear how much damage the airplane suffered when it skidded to a halt, spewing sparks from its belly and engine as they scraped the runway.
