PREP BASKETBALL STATE PLAYOFFS : Mater Dei Beats Manual Arts, 72-64

Santa Ana Mater Dei made all 10 of its free-throw attempts in the final 1:28 Thursday night to defeat Manual Arts, 72-64, in the semifinals of the Southern California Regional Division I boys’ basketball playoffs at Chapman College in Orange.
Reserve guard Dan O’Neil scored 22 points for Mater Dei.
The Monarchs (32-1) won their 24th consecutive game and advanced to the Division I championship game tonight at 8:30 in the Sports Arena against Long Beach Poly. Poly handed Mater Dei its only loss this season, a 64-57 defeat in the finals of the Tournament of Champions in December.
Dwight Bradberry scored 20 points to lead Manual Arts.
