STILL GROWING: The population of Orange County hit 2.3 million last July, the state reports, continuing--though less dramatically--the rises seen in previous decades (above). . . . Latest estimates put California’s population at 28.6 million and the total U.S. population at 250 million. Which means that close to one in 12 Californians and just fewer than one in 100 Americans now live in Orange County.
