From Times Staff and Wire Reports
Outraged highland peasants armed with sickles and homemade shotguns captured 13 Sendero Luminoso (Shining Path) guerrillas, killed them and sent the heads of nine of them to the local army commander, police said. After capturing the better-armed but outnumbered rebels, the peasants decapitated the nine.
