IRVINE : Dornan Won’t Seek Reelection to Council
Irvine City Councilman Ed Dornan announced this week that he will not seek reelection when his term is up in June so that he can write books and conduct research abroad.
Dornan, 50, an English teacher at Orange Coast College, said he had to decide whether or not to more fully pursue his professional life.
“It’s a matter of choosing what I want to do,†Dornan said.
He added that during an upcoming year on academic leave, he plans to do research in France and Italy as well as on the East Coast. He said he is also about to finish a textbook and is working on a novel.
Elected in 1986, Dornan is considered an ally of Irvine Mayor Larry Agran.
