KTTV is to be sharply criticized for taking censorship to a new low in its Feb. 2 airing of “Cheech and Chong’s Next Movie.” Not only was every bit of dialogue relentlessly edited, but a basic element of the plot was removed and replaced with poorly thought out scenes that were inserted into the original film. If the station has so little respect for the work of these gentlemen, it should stop making money on them or at least advertise that it is altering the movie so fans won’t bother to witness a mockery.
