WORLD IN BRIEF : PAKISTAN : 35 Reported Killed in Karachi Clashes

At least 35 people were killed and 100 injured as Pakistani security forces and anti-government protesters fought gun battles in Karachi. A 24-hour curfew was imposed on the southern port, and troops patrolled the streets. The clashes resulted from a general strike called by militant Mohajirs to protest what they charge are repressive government policies.
