Azusa : Swap Meet Permit Plan OKd
The city’s swap meets and flea markets will have to apply for special permits under an amendment to the Municipal Code approved Monday by the City Council.
The amendment also applies to all new pawn shops and antique stores. The measure was passed after residents complained about traffic, parking, security, crowd control and trash problems in the areas around such businesses.
Businesses must obtain conditional-use permits from the Planning Commission. The establishments have 90 days to comply with the new regulations, which require them to provide parking for customers and to allot at least 500 square feet per vendor.
