Black & Decker Corp., Towson, Md., has named Nolan D. Archibald, president and chief executive, to the additional position of chairman, succeeding Peter L. Scott. Archibald was chairman from December, 1986, until May, 1989, when Black & Decker acquired Emhart Corp. Scott, formerly chairman of Emhart, was elected chairman of Black & Decker at that time. Scott had agreed to serve as chairman through the post-merger transition period but had indicated that he would not stand for reelection. Scott remains a director and a member of the executive committee.
