Priest Pleads Innocent to Molestation Charges
A Greek Orthodox priest accused of sexually molesting an 18-year-old man and a 16-year-old youth he met through his affiliation with the St. Cross Episcopal Church in Hermosa Beach pleaded not guilty Tuesday to felony charges of sexual battery and molesting a person under 18.
Stanley Adamakis, 47, a volunteer youth counselor at the church, was charged as someone with a prior child molestation conviction. He also pleaded not guilty to two misdemeanor charges: providing liquor to a person under 21 and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. South Bay Municipal Court Judge Benjamin Aranda ordered him to appear at a Feb. 21 preliminary hearing. He could be sentenced to up to seven years if convicted of both felony charges.
Also Tuesday, Adamakis was ordered to appear at a March 7 hearing on a charge that he violated probation stemming from his 1986 conviction for molesting two Torrance brothers, ages 12 and 13.
Adamakis has been in police custody since Jan. 11, when he surrendered to authorities.
