GIRLS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : La Quinta Rolls To 47th Straight League Victory
Center Amy Jalewalia scored 32 points, had nine rebounds and six assists to lead La Quinta High School to a 82-39 victory over host Garden Grove Friday night in a Garden Grove League girls’ basketball game.
La Quinta, which improved to 16-2 overall and 7-0 in league play, recorded its 47th consecutive league victory. Tonya Krill added 19 points and Heather Brannan had 12 for La Quinta.
Melanie Dear scored 18 for Garden Grove (8-7, 4-3).
In other Garden Grove League games:
Los Amigos 55, Santiago 41--Carrie Elsaesser had 16 points to lead host Los Amigos (7-9, 2-5). May Ly had 12 points and Uyen Nguyen had 11 for Los Amigos. Becky Elcock had 17 points for Santiago.
Kennedy 69, Pacifica 31--Valerie Ruiz scored a game-high 33 points, including 23 in the first half, to lead visiting Kennedy (9-8, 5-2). Ruiz, a junior point guard, also had a season-high 12 steals. Michelle Harris added 12 points for Kennedy.
