A Canoga Park man was fatally injured when he was thrown from his car which spun out after hitting a puddle of water at a high rate of speed in Woodland Hills, the Los Angeles police reported.
Vernon Briscoe, 31, died at 11 p.m. Monday at Humana Hospital-West Hills, about an hour after the accident on Nevada Avenue near Calvert Street, Officer Ed Burns said.
Burns said Briscoe and a 27-year-old passenger were going north on Nevada when Briscoe drove his BMW through a puddle at an unsafe speed and the car went out of control.
“The car spun out and hit a light standard,” Burns said. “Briscoe was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the car. The car ended up on top of him.”
The car’s passenger, whose name was not released, was not injured.
