Athletic Director Hootie Ingram of Alabama said that the school’s hunt for a new football coach had narrowed to four people.

The Birmingham News identified Gene Stallings and Richard Williamson as the leading candidates to succeed Bill Curry, who resigned to become Kentucky’s coach. Jim Fuller and Mickey Andrews are considered longshots.

Stallings was fired in November as coach of the NFL’s Phoenix Cardinals. Williamson is an assistant with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Fuller and Andrews are college assistants.
