U.S. Olympic Sports Festival to be Held in Los Angeles in ’91
Harry L. Usher, chairman of the U. S. Olympic Festival, announced preliminary plans Tuesday for the 1991 event, which will be held in Los Angeles.
Usher said about 4,000 athletes will compete in 37 sports on July 12-21 in the U.S. Olympic Festival, formerly known as the National Sports Festival.
As in the last Olympics held here, the athletes’ quarters will be at USC and UCLA.
Venue sites are still tentative, according to Elizabeth M. Primrose, president of the 11th Olympic Festival.
L.A. was the host city for the 1932 and 1984 Olympic Games, and Usher said the city is aiming to lure the Olympics back in 2004.
