Book Company Acquired: CRC Press, a subsidiary of Times Mirror Co., publisher of The Times, said it has purchased Lewis Publishers Inc. of Chelsea, Mich., for an undisclosed price. Privately held Lewis, which publishes environmental science books for the professional market, maintains a back list of about 150 titles and plans to publish an additional 65 titles this year. CRC, based in Boca Raton, Fla., publishes scientific and technical books.
