California IN BRIEF : CHULA VISTA : Jail Disturbance Reported
A number of prisoners refused to enter their cells in a disturbance at the San Diego County South Bay Detention Center late Saturday, and several injuries were reported, authorities said. “It looks like some inmates in one of the cells are refusing to lock down. There have been some injuries to prisoners. We know of no injuries to deputies,” San Diego County Sheriff’s Deputy Lori-Anne McNally said. McNally said the violence began when prisoners in Cell Block 3-A refused to enter their cells. Fighting was reported inside the cell block, but it was not known if any of the prisoners were armed. Further details on casualties were not immediately available. Deputies apparently were not inside the cell block, she said. “The facility is still secured,” she said.
