Canada tied Finland, 3-3, in the World Junior hockey championship at Helsinki and must win its three remaining games to win the gold medal for the fourth time.
Canada plays the Soviet Union today, Sweden on Wednesday and ends the eight-nation, round-robin tournament against Czechoslovakia on Thursday.
In the other game Sunday, Sweden routed Poland, 14-0.
The Soviets and Czechoslovaks are tied for first with four victories apiece. They meet on Tuesday in what most observers feel will be the match for the gold medal.
Canada is in third place, Sweden in fourth.
