Nation IN BRIEF : HAWAII : Sinking Freighter Gets 3 More Pumps

A ship delivered three more pumps to a freighter sinking 800 miles off Hawaii and stood by to evacuate the crew of 28 if necessary, a Coast Guard spokesman said. The Chevron tanker Colorado reached the 620-foot motor vessel Bulka of Kingston, St. Vincent, and delivered the pumps, the spokesman said. One cargo hold was filled with water and another was filling up faster than crew members had been able to pump the water out, he said.
