THE SIDELINES : Soviets, Czechs Win on Ice

The Soviet Union and Czechoslovakia rolled to big victories against Norway and the United States in Wednesday’s games at the World Junior Ice Hockey Championships in Finland.
Czechoslovakia beat the United States 7-1 in Helsinki. The Soviets beat Norway 12-2 in Vantaa.
The second round will conclude today with Canada meeting Poland and Finland playing archrival Sweden in the tournament for players born no earlier than 1970.
