Biting Blitzen: Gustaf Anders, the tres chic restaurant at South Coast Village in Santa Ana, has been dishing up a rather, um, unconventional dish in honor of the holiday season.

The restaurant--which specializes in gourmet Swedish fare, is offering smoked reindeer on an occasional basis during the winter months. And so far, the meat has been very well received, said Gustaf Magnuson, one of two partners who own Gustaf Anders.

Still, there has been the occasional patron who just can’t resist a comment or two when told they’re being served reindeer leg. “A lot of people have said, ‘I guess Prancer’s not going to be prancing any more this Christmas,†said Magnuson, who shrugs off the comments with, “We don’t think about it in that way.â€
