The body of a woman was found Tuesday morning in a van submerged at the end of a boat ramp at a Chula Vista marina, police said.
Harbor Police discovered the van about 9:50 a.m. at the J Street Marina, and divers found the body. Police do not know how long the body and vehicle had been in the water.
The woman was identified late Tuesday night as Renee Diane Hartley, 35, of Imperial Beach. A spokesman for the San Diego County Coroner said the woman has a teen-age daughter, who was notified Tuesday night of her mother’s death.
A spokesman for the Chula Vista Police Department said the woman was removed from the van fully clothed “with no immediate signs of trauma to the body or indications of the cause of death.”
An autopsy is scheduled for today, the coroner’s spokesman said. Chula Vista police are continuing to investigate.
