PREP SOCCER ROUNDUP : Dana Hills Downs Trabuco Hills in Tournament
Morgan Sokol, Brian Harrison and Rob Lindley each scored a goal to lead Dana Hills High School to a 3-1 victory over Trabuco Hills Friday in the consolation semifinal-round match of the Irvine tournament.
Goalie Brent Lacher had 10 saves for Dana Hills. Greg Damon scored for Trabuco Hills. Dana Hills will play Woodbridge today for first place in the consolation bracket of the 16-team tournament.
In other boys’ Irvine tournament matches:
Woodbridge 3, Tustin 0--Mike Mendoza scored two goals for Woodbridge. Woodbridge goalkeeper Eric Mooberry had two saves.
In nonleague boys’ soccer:
Canyon 1, Norco 0--Randy Campbell scored in the second half for host Canyon (3-1). Norco is 0-1.
Laguna Hills 1, Katella 0--Brain Slayback scored a goal, his sixth of the season, in the second half for visiting Laguna Hills (5-0). Katella is 4-1.
Capistrano Valley 1, Pacifica 1--Max Alvarez scored for Capistrano Valley (2-0-1) at Pacifica (0-1-1).
In Irvine girls’ tournament matches:
San Clemente 3, Woodbridge 2 (OT)--Erin McKoskil scored in a shootout to break a 2-2 tie. San Clemente will play Trabuco Hills at 1 p.m. today for first place in the consolation bracket of the 14-team tournament.
Trabuco Hills 3, University 1--Linda Lunceford scored two goals for Trabuco Hills.
Corona del Mar 1, Troy 0--Tracy Schriber scored the winning goal for Corona del Mar and goalkeeper Rachel Buzolich had four saves. Corona del Mar will play Tustin at 9 a.m. today for third place.
In the Cerritos girls’ tournament:
Laguna Hills 2, Brea-Olinda 2-- Laguna Hills advanced on penalty kicks, 5-4. Lisa Crowder scored twice in the second half for Brea-Olinda (1-1-2) to force the overtime.
