A U.S. Army Reserve parachutist was killed after he landed in a pool of liquefied manure near the drop zone, Army officials said Sunday.

The Saturday jump originated at Ft. Meade, and a helicopter took the reserves over the U.S. Naval Academy Dairy Farm often used for jumps, the Washington Post reported. A delay caused five parachutists to overshoot the drop zone, including the victim, who landed in the lake of liquefied manure and apparently drowned, the newspaper said.
