NEW ORLEANS — Robert L. Boxie, a pony boy who allegedly sold electrical shocking devices to an undercover state trooper on the Delta Downs backstretch, was suspended for 10 years and fined $5,000 by the Louisiana State Racing Commission.
State Trooper David DesOrmeaux testified Thursday that Boxie sold him two shocking devices between races at the southwest Louisiana track on Nov. 10, 1988.
Boxie is also facing criminal charges stemming from the alleged sale.
Boxie denied making the sale, and his attorney, Sal Anzelmo, said they will appeal the case in court.
