NATION IN BRIEF : VIRGINIA : Deadly Virus Found for First Time in U.S.

The rare Ebola virus, one of the deadliest of known human viruses and one for which there is no known vaccine, has turned up for the first time in the United States. It was in a shipment of monkeys imported from the Philippines for cosmetics and drug testing by a laboratory in Reston, Va. State and federal experts on contagious diseases are devising a program to trace the path of the virus and who might have been exposed to it. The monkeys were destroyed as a precaution.
