Two more Mediterranean fruit flies were reported Wednesday to have been trapped in Norwalk and Temple City, increasing the swath of residential neighborhoods targeted for at least one dose of aerial pesticide spray.

As a result of the Norwalk find--a couple of miles from the Downey site where another fertile fly was reported to have been detected Tuesday--most of Norwalk will be added to a 17-square-mile sector to be sprayed Dec. 7. The spray zone includes Bellflower and Downey and portions of Cerritos, Lakewood and Paramount. Agricultural officials will add parts of Temple City to a 9-square-mile zone that includes Monrovia, which is to be sprayed Dec. 6.

Los Angeles County Agricultural Commissioner Leon Spaugy said four more flies were found in the Monterey Hills area of Los Angeles and in Whittier, areas which already are subject to eradication efforts.

Meanwhile, a small group protested malathion spraying during a rush-hour rally on Colorado Boulevard in Pasadena early Wednesday evening. Parts of Pasadena south of Colorado have been sprayed.
