More than $27 million was raised for 79 human-service agencies in this year’s United Way/CHAD campaign, Chairman Glen Estell said Wednesday.
Estell, branch manager for IBM, told more than 800 volunteers attending a celebration dinner at the Hotel del Coronado that the campaign collected $27.5 million, surpassing the $27-million goal set by the charity. Last year, volunteers collected more than $25 million for the annual fund-raiser.
Estell and 45 executives on a three-month loan from their companies worked with more than 10,000 volunteers to meet the campaign goal.
