Pro Ballplayers With Area Ties to Stage Clinic

Former Kennedy High baseball standouts Gino Tagliaferri and Phil Lombardi will stage the first San Fernando Valley Baseball Clinic on Dec. 19-20 at two area sites.
Lombardi, a member of the New York Mets, and Tagliaferri, who plays in the Detroit Tigers organization, will be joined by several area professionals. Jeff Wetherby (Kennedy) of the Atlanta Braves and two-time Cy Young winner Bret Saberhagen (Cleveland High) of the Kansas City Royals are scheduled to make appearances. Pitcher John Davis of the Chicago White Sox and former Kennedy coach and current UCLA assistant Don Tamburro also will appear.
Cost for the clinic, open to players aged 7 to 17, is $45. Special discounts are available to families wishing to send more than one player. Players registering before Dec. 15 will receive a free T-shirt.
