POP LP CHART : ‘Storm Front’ Moving Up
Nobody expected Billy Joel’s “Storm Front” to take the Billboard pop album chart by storm--but it has. His album inched up a notch to No. 2 and should take over the top spot in the next week or two. Joel just might have matching No. 1’s--the top pop album and single. Right now he has matching No. 2’s. His single, “We Didn’t Start the Fire” is also No. 2 on the pop singles chart. Whitesnake’s “Slip of the Tongue” is the hottest new album on the chart, jetting to No. 13 in just two weeks. Shades of the ‘60s--two guitar heroes have albums in the Top 30: Joe Satriani’s high-flying “Flying in a Blue Dream” (No. 23) and Eric Clapton’s “Journeyman” (No. 30).
* Phil Collins’ “But Seriously” debuted at a relatively low No. 82 but look for it to take a flying leap into the Top 20 next week. His single, “Another Day in Paradise,” is No. 6 on the pop chart and just might reach No. 1 in the next few weeks.
