CITY SECTION FOOTBALL ROUNDUP : Carter, Kennedy Rush Past San Fernando Into Playoffs, 24-15

Ontiwaun Carter rushed for 270 yards and two touchdowns in 43 carries to lead Kennedy High to a 24-15 upset of visiting San Fernando on Friday as the Golden Cougars (4-6, 3-4) secured a berth in the City Section 4-A Division playoffs.
Carter, who fell nine yards short of tying the school record, tied the score, 7-7, early in the second quarter of the North Valley League game on a 10-yard run.
On the final play of the third quarter, Kennedy defensive back Billy Sanders intercepted a Michael Wynn pass at the San Fernando 15-yard line, returning it 14 yards to the Tiger one. On the ensuing play, Carter scored his second touchdown, a one-yard run to give the Golden Cougars a 17-7 lead.
San Fernando (5-5, 5-2) came back midway through the fourth quarter as Tiger running back William Taylor scored his second touchdown on a five-yard run and Wynn ran three yards for a two-point conversion to bring the Tigers close.
Wynn completed five of 17 for 77 yards with two interceptions.
