LOCAL : Vacant Reseda Theater Burns

An early morning fire heavily damaged a vacant theater that was set for demolition in Reseda, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported today. It was the second fire in the structure this week.
The fire was reported at 2:13 a.m. at the theater building in the 7600 block of North White Oak Avenue, firefighter Joe Morrow said. Flames were through the roof when firefighters arrived and the blaze took 20 minutes to knock down, he said.
The cause was under investigation and no estimate of damages was made, Morrow said.
Fire Capt. Jim Wheeler said a small fire was put out at the theater on Monday morning. The cause of that fire was unknown but Wheeler said inspectors were attempting to learn whether transients had been sleeping in the theater.
Wheeler said the theater, which had been vacant in recent years, was set for demolition this month to make way for a residential development.
