NEWPORT BEACH : Sergeant Named to Community Post
- Share via
The Police Department this week moved a veteran into a position in which he will work with civic groups and Neighborhood Watch programs.
“We felt that a sergeant would be more aware of the total resources available to the community within the department,” said Andy Gonis, the 13-year Newport Beach police veteran and SWAT team member who was moved to the community relations position Wednesday.
Gonis will coordinate programs including Neighborhood Watch and the annual open house. He will also be available to community members and media to answer questions.
Former Community Relations Officer Bob Oakley will return to patrol.
