Although I consider the delay in the resumption of the World Series to be a respectful interval, I want to commend Mike Downey for his eloquent column about the insensitivity of the sports fraternity to tragedies and disasters in the real world.
Sometimes, it seems to require shocking intrusions from beyond the world of sports to make us put the ups and downs of athletic competition in their proper perspective.
