Food Distributor to Recall Contaminated Sandwiches
United Press International
MINNEAPOLIS — A national food distributor on Friday said that it would recall all of the sandwiches it sells in vending machines across the country because of bacteria contamination.
Phil Crowley, president of Southern Kitchens Inc., said that analyses of fresh and frozen sandwiches at the company’s plant have shown contamination with listeria monocytogenes, which causes food poisoning.
Crowley said that he did not know how many sandwiches were involved or exactly which states were affected.
