Red Cross Workers in Lebanon Stage Sit-in
BEIRUT — Local employees of the International Committee of the Red Cross staged sit-ins Friday to press for information on the fate of two Swiss workers kidnaped three weeks ago in the southern port city of Sidon.
Orthopedic technicians Emmanuel Christen, 32, and Elio Erriquez, 23, were abducted Oct. 6, in front of the ICRC orthopedic center in Sidon, which fits artificial limbs to the wounded.
In southern Lebanon, a number of handicapped people who have benefited or are still waiting for the services of the orthopedic center also staged sit-ins in their villages to demand the release of the two workers.
