Aetna Life & Casualty: The Hartford, Conn., insurance company said third-quarter profit declined 22% from a year ago to $183 million, due in part to losses from Hurricane Hugo. Revenue rose 10% to $4.9 billion. Aetna said catastrophe losses reduced earnings in the quarter by $50 million, including $36 million attributed to Hurricane Hugo. Catastrophe losses in the year-ago period were $5 million.
