Interim Manager Tommy Helms of the Cincinnati Reds said he is meeting next week with the team’s general manager, Bob Quinn, to see if he will become the full-time manager in 1990. Quinn said Helms is among as many as a dozen candidates for the managerial job.
Quinn denied that Red owner Marge Schott has offered former New York Yankee manager Dallas Green the Reds’ job. Quinn said only that Green is among the candidates being considered.
Quinn said the candidates also include former Houston manager Hal Lanier and former Cleveland manager Doc Edwards.
