A fire apparently started by a plumber’s torch caused an estimated $50,000 in damage to a house under construction and blackened three acres of nearby brush in Calabasas on Thursday, the Los Angeles County Fire Department reported.
The blaze also caused about $1,500 in damage to a second house under construction just south of the first house, Capt. Robert Martin said.
A member of a fire camp crew was treated at a hospital for a minor allergic reaction not directly related to the blaze.
The fire started about 11:45 a.m. and was contained in 25 minutes, Martin said. The house in the 5100 block of Parkway Calabasas was in the framing stage, as was the second house, Martin said.
