ON THE SIDELINES : Anne Urges Olympics Decision
LONDON — Time is running out over the question of whether the 1992 Olympic equestrian events can be staged in Barcelona, Britain’s Princess Anne said in an interview published today.
The Barcelona riding competitions are in jeopardy because of an outbreak of African horse plague in southern Spain which has caused the deaths of more than 600 horses. The outbreak has raised the possibility that the events might have to be switched to another country, although the International Olympic Committee has said no decision will be made until its meeting in Tokyo next September.
