GOOD STOCK: The stock market lurches on (A1), but a significant local financial barometer is holding its ground. . . . The Orange County Growth Fund, a mutual fund composed of stocks of 35 local companies, dipped 2.9% Friday, compared to a drop-off of 7% on Wall Street. . . . Requests for Growth Fund prospectuses also zoomed Monday. Said fund creator Jeffrey Kilpatrick: “It goes to show that Orange County investors--and that’s mainly who buys the growth fund--are pretty stable and didn’t panic.â€
