Police Hunting Suspect in Party-Crasher Death
Police were searching Monday for a gunman who shot to death a 22-year-old Canoga Park man who tried to crash a wedding anniversary party at a church.
Rojelio Galvan was struck in the head by a shotgun blast about 12:30 a.m. Sunday after a party guest grabbed a shotgun from a nearby truck and fired four times, Los Angeles Police Detective Larry Dolley said.
Galvan and several friends tried to crash a 25th anniversary party being held in the basement of Emerson Unitarian Church at 7304 Jordan Ave., Dolley said.
A fight broke out in the street between Galvan and his group and members of the party, police said. Galvan was shot as he tried to drive away.
Galvan’s friends drove him to Nu-Med Regional Medical Center in Canoga Park, where he was pronounced dead.
Detective Rick Swanston said Monday that police believe they have identified the gunman, but he declined to release his name.
