September Prices Down 4% for Simi, Moorpark Houses
The average resale price of a single-family house in the Simi Valley and Moorpark area fell about 4% in September to $238,055 from $247,272 in August, the Simi Valley-Moorpark Board of Realtors said.
The price was still about 17% higher than the $203,119 level set during the previous September.
Sales of houses increased 25% in September to 170 from 136 in August. But sales declined about 19% compared to September, 1988, when 211 houses were sold.
The number of new listings for single-family homes fell about 21% in September to 310 from 391 in August. That was about 10% more new listings than the 282 that were added during September, 1988. The sales volume for condominiums, meanwhile, jumped about 87% in September to 69, from 37 in August.
But the number of sales was still about 6% lower than in the previous September. The average resale price of a condominium in the area rose about 10% to $158,282, from $144,274 in August. The average price was about 34% higher than the $118,424 average in September, 1988.
