P.M. BRIEFING : McDonald’s Trying Out McRib
CHICAGO — McDonald’s Corp. said today that it is adding McRib, a pork rib sandwich, to its menu, hoping to sell 80 million in a monthlong trial run.
The sandwich will feature a 4-ounce portion of pork from the front shoulder of the hog and should sell for about $1.79, said McDonald’s vice president of marketing, David Green.
“It’s premature to decide if McRib will stay on the menu or come back as a specialty item,†he said.
The limited offering in the chain’s 8,000 U.S. restaurants coincides with National Pork Month.
McDonald’s will offer the sandwich for a month to six weeks.
