ON THE SIDELINES : Dolphins’ John Offerdahl Signs
MIAMI — Dolphins linebacker John Offerdahl signed a one-year contract and reported to camp today, ending a 2 1/2-month holdout that caused him to miss the team’s first six games.
Terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed, but a source close to negotiations said the contract will permit Offerdahl to become a free agent after this season.
Offerdahl, a Pro Bowl selection in each of his three years in the NFL, had been in the option year of a contract that was to pay him $201,500 this year. The Dolphins offered him a four-year, $2.6-million deal in July, but when training camp began, team management refused to negotiate until Offerdahl reported.
