Point Loma Nazarene Men Win in Overtime

Point Loma Nazarene (3-4-4) defeated visiting Cal State San Bernardino (7-5) in double overtime, 3-2, in a non-conference men’s soccer game.
San Bernardino took a 2-0 lead before Dennis Vargis and Dave Beck scored to tie it. Ivan Huntoon scored the game-winner in the first overtime, but college soccer requires two full overtime periods to be played.
GIRLS’ SOCCER
John Liberatore has been named coach of the girls’ team at El Capitan, Athletic Director Kick Wilkins announced. Liberatore, a teacher at Grossmont High School, was the assistant varsity girls’ coach at Grossmont for four years.
