8 Injured When Driver Plows Into Forum Crowd
Eight persons were injured when an allegedly drunk woman driver plowed through a crosswalk “crowded with a mass of humanity†leaving a hockey game at the Forum in Inglewood Wednesday night after the game, Inglewood police said.
The driver, who was not immediately identified, appeared to be in her late 30s, police Lt. Tom Hoffman said. She was arrested on suspicion of felony drunk driving.
Two of the victims, Hoffman said, appeared to be seriously injured. One, a young woman, was rescued by members of the crowd when she was dragged under the front wheels of the car. “They got together and literally lifted the car up and pulled her out,†he added.
There was no immediate identification of the victims, who were transported to nearby hospitals.
